John Rogers

For 16 years, John Rogers has been an invaluable part of SASHA Farm Animal Sanctuary. He first joined us as a volunteer in July 2009 after his career at The Ann Arbor News was affected by staff reductions. Seeking a new purpose, he was encouraged by a colleague to spend time at SASHA, and from the moment he arrived, John felt right at home. His deep love for animals, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to their well-being have made him a cornerstone of our sanctuary.

John’s contributions extend far beyond daily tasks—his dedication is evident in everything he does. His responsibilities include feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures and pastures, constructing shelters and fences, operating heavy machinery, and assisting with animal care. No task is too big or small when it comes to ensuring the animals’ comfort and safety. His expertise and hands-on approach have helped train countless staff members and volunteers, passing down invaluable knowledge about best practices in animal care.

But John doesn’t just work for the animals—he advocates for them. He is always there to provide extra care to those in need, whether it’s comforting a nervous newcomer or helping a sick resident regain strength. His kindness, patience, and genuine bond with the animals make him a trusted presence at the farm.

Beyond his daily responsibilities, John plays a vital role in our seasonal charity events, helping to make them a success year after year. He is respected and loved by everyone at SASHA, always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and lead by example. His dedication, compassion, and passion for animals have been instrumental in shaping SASHA into what it is today.

We are profoundly grateful for John’s unwavering commitment and the countless hours he has devoted to SASHA Farm and its animals. His impact is immeasurable, and we are so fortunate to have him as part of our family. Here’s to many more years of making a difference together!
