We have a variety of avian species at the sanctuary. Our bird residents include chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, waterfowl, and Ellie the emu.Many of our feathery friends are located in one of the five coops on our property.
Emus are native to Australia and are one of the largest living birds but are unable to fly, however they can run up tp 31mph!
Found as a newborn chick abandoned in a motel with a bag of food, somewhere near the Detroit area in the Spring of 2019.
Our Hateful Eight roosters have lived up to their name. These roosters were being transported on an aircraft at the Detroit Metro Airport and ended up getting loose on the tarmac.
The Philly 128 flock came to us back in 2018. These Cornish Cross chickens, or broiler chickens, were born along with thousands of others on a backyard meat farm in Philadelphia.
These four rambunctious, silly, and naughty little turkey babies came to us from a small rescue site in the spring of 2022.
