This incredibly gorgeous Highland has a truly heartwarming story about how he became a beloved member of the SASHA Farm family. MacGregor’s journey began at the Detroit Zoo, where he lived alongside two farm animal pals. As he grew, so did his stunning horns, and with it came a need for more space to roam and stretch out. Around the same time, SASHA Farm had an ostrich resident who was struggling with depression and loneliness, unable to find solace in his current surroundings.
Seeing an opportunity to help both animals, we decided to arrange a “trade” with the Detroit Zoo — allowing each of them a better chance at happiness and companionship. In 2015, MacGregor, a docile and shy soul, made his way to SASHA. It took him a little time to adjust and trust his new caretakers, but with patience and love, he began to open up. Over time, MacGregor blossomed into a leader of the herd. He now enjoys regular brushing sessions and eagerly anticipates his delicious produce treats. His story is a reminder of the power of second chances and the beautiful bonds that can form when we make space for others to thrive.
