Meet Chicky

Chicky had quite an adventurous life before arriving at SASHA. She was once part of a small backyard flock in the city of Taylor, Michigan. Tragically, Chicky was the only survivor of a brutal predator attack. Seeking safety, she found refuge by roosting in a nearby tree, only venturing out during the early morning hours to search for food. One of the neighbors in the apartment complex where Chicky had taken shelter noticed her and began feeding her, providing water as well. Understanding that Chicky was frightened, they made sure to place the food and water in a safe spot, a shrub in front of the complex.

As the weather quickly turned colder, the locals realized Chicky needed a safe, permanent home. They contacted us, and after several weeks and numerous attempts, we were finally able to capture this practically wild hen. When Chicky arrived at the sanctuary, she was understandably confused and took to perching high in the trees. However, once we introduced her to the perfect flock, she began to settle in. Now, Chicky happily roams the coop yards and nuzzles up to her feathered family.
