Winter Clothing Drive!

This was going to be my post asking everyone to join in at the protest this Sunday at Lumen Christi High School. The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul had organized a fundraiser there. Now normally, we kind of like fundraisers. ;) This one, though, not so much. They were hosting a donkey basketball game to raise money for their organization. (Click the link to find out what’s so wrong with this “sport” if you don’t already know!)

Thanks in part to Kelli and the rest of S.M.A.R.T, plus countless other friends of the animals calling and writing to voice their concerns, the game has been canceled! (Hence, so has the protest.)

Of course, canceling an event on short notice, even for the best reasons, comes with costs. To show our appreciation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for making a compassionate choice, many people are sending donations along with a message of thanks.

To help further, SASHA Farm and S.M.A.R.T. will be collecting donations for a winter clothing drive. Your gently used warm winter clothing can be dropped off in the kitchen at the SASHA Farm any time between 11 and 5:30, or you can call to arrange another drop off time. Of course, you can also bring donations with you to our November Work Party on November 11th. Kelli would like to have the donations in time to deliver them by the end of the month, both as a timely ‘thank you’ and because those in need of winter clothing will need it asap!
