Not turkeys….Turkey vultures!
It’s nice when there are babies on the farm that don’t require our constant care! Mom and Pop Vulture have been doing a great job taking care of their little ones in a hollow tree near the edge of the horse pasture, and we can admire them and coo over them, and not have to be the ones to bring them their favorite meal of regurgitated carrion.
A couple of months ago, Dorothy was looking out her office window and noticed that a vulture or two were really interested in one particular area in the trees. We walked out to check it out, and sure enough, we found two eggs. We’ve followed them from eggs to fuzzy white hatchlings to now, almost fledged. Of course, we always forgot to take pictures! Last time we checked in on them, we took one of our volunteers and her camera with us. Thanks, Kelli, for the great picture!

The turkey vulture pictures are great! Do you have turkeys at Sasha Farm?
